The Markthal in Rotterdam is a striking indoor market hall located in the Laurenskwartier district, opened by the Queen of the Netherlands on October 1, 2014. This architectural landmark features a massive horseshoe-shaped arch that houses over 100 shops, restaurants, and an Albert Heijn supermarket. The interior is adorned with "Horn of Plenty," a massive digital artwork by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, which covers the entire inner curve of the arch, depicting fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Visitors can explore the ground floor, which offers a wide variety of fresh produce, international foods, and ready-to-eat meals. The market is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 to 20:00, Friday from 10:00 to 21:00, Saturday from 10:00 to 20:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00. The Albert Heijn supermarket inside operates from 08:00 to 22:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, and 09:00 to 22:00 on Sundays. There is no admission fee for entering the market.

For travelers, the Markthal is easily accessible by public transport, car, or bicycle. An underground parking garage with over 1,100 spaces is available 24/7, featuring disabled parking and electric vehicle charging points. The market serves as a vibrant social hub, blending retail, dining, and art in a unique architectural setting. It complements other Rotterdam attractions, such as the Erasmus Bridge and Cube Houses, by offering a modern culinary and cultural experience. The combination of historic design elements and contemporary functionality makes it a essential stop for those exploring the city.
