Landal Stroombroek

Landal Stroombroek is a holiday park at Braamt, in the municipality of Montferland, in the east of the province of Gelderland, close to the German border. The area is one of the more varied parts of the Achterhoek and Liemers regions, with hills that are low by international standards but quite notable in the Dutch context, wooded slopes and quiet lanes. The park is built around a recreational lake with a sandy beach and a terrace beside the water, and it is a self-contained base for a family holiday or a short break.

The accommodation includes bungalows for couples and larger lodges for families, some with children's features and optional comfort upgrades. Guests generally have access to the park's wellness area, which has an indoor pool, a sauna, massage rooms and relaxation corners with themes. The landscape is made up of forests, heath, small fields and villages, and there are good views from the higher points. Montferland is also known for its history: 's-Heerenberg, the small town at the foot of the hills, has Huis Bergh, one of the most important castles in the east of the Netherlands, which houses a museum with a notable collection. The castle is an easy half-day trip from the park.

Other options within reach include the old Hanseatic towns of the IJssel valley, Doetinchem and Zevenaar, and the cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen, which can be reached in under an hour. Across the border in Germany, the town of Emmerich is not far away. The surrounding area is good for cycling, with well-signposted routes along quiet roads, and in spring and autumn the woods are especially beautiful.

The park suits families with children, groups of friends and couples who want a combination of relaxation and activity. Book early for school holidays, check the facilities available in the season you plan to visit and bring waterproof clothing for the woods.
