Historical Centre

The Historical Centre of ’s-Hertogenbosch, also known as Erfgoed ’s-Hertogenbosch, is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in the rich history of this Brabant city. Housed in the historic Groot Tuighuis, the centre presents the story of ’s-Hertogenbosch from prehistoric times to the present day. The permanent exhibition features a diverse collection of artefacts, documents, and architectural models that illustrate the city’s development through the centuries.

Visitors can explore the exhibition at their own pace, with English translations available at reception. Free guided tours are offered, providing insights into the highlights of the collection and access to the centre’s depots. One of the unique features is the “ArcheoHotspot,” where you can watch archaeology demonstrations and even participate in lab work—no appointment needed.

The centre is open Monday to Thursday from 09:30 am to 4:30 pm and is closed on Dutch public holidays. Admission is free for all visitors, making it an accessible and budget-friendly stop. Group visits for 15 or more require a reservation. Located at Bethaniestraat 4, the centre is about a 20-minute walk from the train station and just five minutes from the St.-Jan parking garage. The building is fully wheelchair accessible, with an accessible toilet on the ground floor.
