Brabanthallen Exhibition Centre

Brabanthallen is the main exhibition and events complex of 's-Hertogenbosch, known in everyday speech as Den Bosch, the capital of the province of Noord-Brabant. It lies on the Diezekade, a short distance from the historic centre, and it consists of large halls that can be arranged in different ways for fairs, concerts and conferences. It is not a sightseeing attraction in the usual sense, since there are no permanent exhibitions, but it is a significant part of the city's cultural and commercial life.

The programme changes constantly. A typical year includes consumer fairs for homes, gardens, cars and holidays, specialist trade shows, antique and hobby markets, and large business events. The halls also host concerts and dance events when a big audience is expected, and some cultural festivals use the space too. One week the complex may be filled with stands and demonstration kitchens, and the next with a stage and a crowd. The building offers the usual conveniences of an exhibition centre, with large halls, meeting rooms, catering points and car parks. Public transport links to the station make it accessible without a car, and for large events extra buses or shuttle services are sometimes arranged. Den Bosch itself is an excellent city to combine with an event visit. The medieval centre is only a short distance away, with its great cathedral, the Markt and the narrow streets. The Binnendieze, a network of old canals running beneath and between buildings, can be explored by boat. The Noordbrabants Museum presents regional art and history, and Korte Putstraat is a lively street of restaurants. A local speciality, the Bossche bol, a large chocolate-covered cream puff, is sold at bakeries such as Jan de Groot, and trying one is almost obligatory.

The halls suit anyone with a ticket to a fair or show, and also business visitors. Allow time to walk or take a bus into the old town before or after. Check parking arrangements before travelling, since big events fill the car parks, and consider public transport.
