Hart beach

Hart Beach in Scheveningen is a well-known destination for surfers and beach enthusiasts, offering a laid-back atmosphere right on the North Sea coast. Established in the early 1970s by Etsko Schuitema, Hart Beach is home to the oldest surf school in the Netherlands. Today, it remains a central hub for the local surf community, run by brothers Paul and Romke Schuitema, who continue to foster a welcoming environment for both beginners and experienced surfers.

The surf school operates year-round, with qualified instructors—many of whom are also lifeguards—offering lessons tailored to all skill levels. Surf equipment rentals are available, making it easy for visitors to get out on the waves even if they arrive without their own gear. Hart Beach is family-friendly, providing surf camps and skateboard lessons for children, which helps introduce younger visitors to the joys of beach sports in a safe setting.

In addition to surfing, Hart Beach features a spacious surf shop near the harbor, stocked with gear, fashion, and accessories.
